Hi everyone, we are new to the caravan world and have brought a 1990 lunar Saturn 5 berth. We brought it knowing it needed work for damp, that's no problem. First question I have got is the carver water heater, while I was repairing damp in the rear I noticed there's no tank on the water heater the tie bar has sheared off, I have seen the parts to replace but can I test it fires up ect before I spend on the spare parts? And the waste water pipes have 2 outlets on the offside for bathroom but kitchen one is just a pipe hanging out of the rear? Can these be rerouted/combined so it all exits at one point? Sorry for the long post sure I will be back with more questions :-)

I'm a relative newbie to the caravan side of things myself and on a steep learning curve.

I don't know enough about the water heaters except that mine is about the only thing on mine that actually works. There are some good tutorials on Youtube you might want to watch to familiarise yourself.

As far as the pipes coming out in different places. I think this is fairly common. The pipes follow the shortest possible route in order to get them out of the van. Because they are smaller gauge than home wastes, the flow rate is lower, so it would not make sense to complicate things by having branches meeting inboard.

The outlet hoses to your waste container are what come with the Y branch. I'm guessing you didn't get one of these with your van. Search Ebay for "caravan Y outlet" That then takes both outlets and routes them to your waste container.

Just fire it up with the flue cover off for a min or two and you can see the burner, if the ends are open on the square burner tube then it will work but not properly, they often rot away.
You may find the whole lot has had it.
If you are in the northwest I have a few parts.
Its best to replace the plastic inlet and out let pipes at the same time.
They are very simple to fix
