Hi, just had my caravan serviced and also the motor mover to be told the gearbox has gone in one side of the motor mover. Does anyone know if this is a part that can be replaced ? If so where from ?
It's the ego200.
Any suggestions welcome. It's only 4 years old but PurpleLine are stating that as it wasn't 'serviced' last year my warranty is void which I find very annoying as I'm not aware that a service would of prevented the gearbox failure. For the avoidance of doubt it's only one side that's failed. The other side is fine and working perfectly apparently.
If you strip it apart the common thing was a pin sheared which you can purchase many sizes on Ebay if you do not have any local stockists such as bearing and transmission suppliers. If you have to resort to a new mover go for Powrtouch next time. 5 year guarantee and no silly clause about having to have it serviced.
I personally don't rate this company I have an AWD mover which is still in warranty one of the motors has packed in, it's starts to turn then stops contacted purpleline and was told to take it off and return it to them as they have no engineers on the road as such so it's down to me to get it to Suffolk!
After speaking more with purpleline they have suggested that it's the wormdrive that has broken. They are sending a replacement FOC but not supplying the fitting. They have stated it's a relatively easy part to exchange out...... has anyone else had this issue ?
The worm drive will be fitted to the motor shaft with a pin which is what I said originally which may be what has broken. You may find it is only the pin and the worm OK.
When I asked if if was possibly the pin the member of staff stated not on this model !! The worm drive is a sacrificial part. Have you ever had to replace either the pin or drive ?
