Hi all have just gone to empty my cassette and noticed fluid coming out of the vent hole near the blade opener also the float vent has come off which was in the tank
Thanks but how do I replace as I can't get my hands in there . Is it a case of unscrewing the screws around the lip seal removing and fitting and replacing lip seal?
When you said 'float vent' I didn't know what you meant. Do you mean the float itself has dislodged from it's mounting?
If so then it is difficult to fit back into position because once you have removed the 6 screws around the lip seal plate you still can't see inside and have to feel with your hands which is virtually impossible. Even after looking at pictures I still couldn't detect where the swivel pin fitted. However, you don't need the float really as you can visually see when the tank is near full as this happened to mine about 3 years ago so just left it absent because a new Thetford cassette tank complete with float arm is the best part of a hundred quid in order to make it fully functional again.
Further research shows that the hole to vent as you empty the button has gone hence the leak so not sure whether I can get a new one or if it's knackered
I'm a bit confused as to which vent has actually gone as when you said the vent hole I presumed you meant This as this is the Thetford part number I provided in my earlier link which isn't the part you are referring to. However, the small air vent button (for assistance on emptying) is not replaceable so it seems like it will have to be a new cassette tank unfortunately.
