Bought a 1999 Avondale Antrim last week. got it home hubby plugged it into the mains electric... put the water butt on, all the taps had been left on and all worked, sinks and showers.. we turned them all off.Had to go out so unplugged electric ..Put it back on and now taps don't work..Just 2 ceiling lights, and looks like light is on for the fridge..
Nothing seems to be working off the new battery..
the control panel is completly different to any we have had before as the previous caravans have been much older! Cant make top nor tail of which switches should be where, have googled etc but hubby has got nowhere..The loo isnt working--no light on at all, mains or battery..Im just fed up..supposed to be going off for a couple of nights tomorrow.. Hubby was convinced he would be able to sort it and now looks like we will be staying at home...any ideas please?

Artclass ,just re-read your post three times.
You mention a new battery but don't really explain where it comes into the problem, unless I am missing something obvious.
Have you just put a new battery in?.
Try and explain to people more experienced than me ,where the new battery comes in.
Not being rude ,just trying to get you to the right answer in the quickest time.Your answer will be here but these people need all the facts.
Good luck.
Greg

Sorry Greg--having a bad day-- it should have read we tried putting everything on to work via the new battery... but nothing seems to work off that either..

The light on the loo does not come on when the hook up cable is on or battery-does not work at all... .

just seems odd the water pump worked off hook up when he put it on first but does not work now.. the electric sockets work off hook up..
Hubby swears he just unplugged the hookup cable...

Plug it into the mains and plug something into the 13amp mains sockets to see if they are working. If so that proves you have mains power into the van. post back to say yes it is. Getting mains into the caravan is a good start.

If you have a battery you know to be charged you can get most of the 12 volt items working. This will be most lights. There will probably be two which work off mains the ret will be 12 volt off the battery. Try and identify the 12 volt ones and see if any of those are working. If so the battery is good.

There may be a couple of very small switches which isolate the pump and all the 12 volt electrics. You may have to get down on your hands and knees to find them but they will be near the corner where the mains hook up and battery box is. Probably in a seat box.

It sounds like it's more likely to be a 12 volt power issue and not a 240 volt mains power one.
What light on the loo are you referring to?
Is it the RED full cassette light or the light for the 12 volt flush operation?
Was the mains connected before the battery was installed?
If it was then if the switch wasn't in the neutral position it could have caused a spark thus result being a blown fuse.
You still need to clarify more detail about the problem to determine what the source of the problem may be as it could be something as simple as a switch not being activated.

Many thanks for getting back to me... I have had a glass of wine or three as am so peed off

right--have plugged in a lead light and that works on the socket points,,so they are working on hook up.. as is the fridge..
2 lights are working off hook up too... so know which ones are 12volt now..

The battery is new and fully charged, and hubby says the other lights worked at one point off there...

We found the fuses under the bed-thanks-- and the blue 15 amp fuse has blown...all our spare fuses are in our car at local garage because it failed its MOT on Wed,, hence the wine LOL ,,, can tow caravan with our van though..

The loo has a blue button to press to flush and there should be a red light to show the cassette is full.. neither work...

Cant remember if the hook up was connected before we tried the battery because hubby couldnt make sense of the control panel to be honest.. one big switch has nothing written on it at all--and all switches were moved up and down because we didnt know what was what.. so looks like the fuse was blown then,,,

The RED 'FULL' light on top of the toilet will only illuminate when the cassette tank is full of liquid and is operated from 2 independent AA batteries in the cassette tank compartment and not from the leisure battery.
However, there should be a 12 volt rocker switch that illuminates (when switched on) somewhere near to where the 240 volt mains trip switches are and it's possible that this is switched off which has isolated the 12 volt power.

Couldn't find the battery department to put batteries in ,,looked everywhere--our neighbour has been to have a look too-- as we realised we didn't know how to fill the flush bit of loo--- he scratched his head, we looked on Google-- all things on there show an opening above the cassette in which to put the water.. we have nothing at all LOL
Then we found that there is a pump around the other side of caravan that goes in the waterbutt and the water is pumped all round the van to the loo!
Next door says he has never known that before-and we haven't either..
Anyway--fuse fixed the problem... but we now can't find how to heat the water with gas.. also have found no gas taps inside the caravan to turn off fridge etc.. and so it goes on ,and on and on LOL..
