I have some de-lamination in the floor of my motor home. It's a 1997, I think its quite good for its year and just has a few damp areas for me to rectify. Nearly Everything works and i would like to keep it for a number of years and I feel I couldn't make it any worse.
I was thinking of using expanding foam to cure the spongy floor. Easy application with the foam gun that I already have, just do a meter square at a time, put plenty of weight on top and good support underneath. Anybody tried this or can foresee problems for me?
Thanks
Dave
Further to my earlier listing. I have now found a youtube video tutorial on de-lamanation. This was illustrated using the normal 2 part system and it did look a lot easier than I expected and was possible to do in one go. So I am now going to use the 2 part system. Do you think it needs any weight on to push the floor together, it didnt show any on the video.
The correct way is to put a lifting jack under the caravan floor just to support it. You then drill the holes through the top section of plywood only, fill them with the adhesive and then plug them with dowels. The final part is to put a sheet of cellophane or thin plastic over the area being treated (the bonding won't stick to it) and then place a heavy object over the top such as a garden slab or a battery directly on top. Leave for at least 24 hours till the adhesive sets but follow the instructions on the tub for this and then sand down any protruding dowels till flush with the floor.
tango55 has clearly bought that t-shirt, would say use plenty of axle stands and packing down under and on top a few weights, (spare wheels etc) messy job but worth it
When I did my delaminated caravan floor last year I used a 'One Shot' adhesive so there's no mixing involved which saves time and less messy. The results were satisfactory anyway.
