Hi can anyone help me,recently purchased a second hand caravan and gave it a good check over, but when got home noticed the floor on one side was higher than where it supposed to be,at first thought someone had jacked caravan up by the floor and raised the floor up but after stripping beds out found that the wall has departed from the floor(broken rusty screws)from the door to nearly to the front and looks like the side has dropped, tryed jacking the wall up from the bottom to get it level and rescrew to floor but it won't budge, wondered if anyone else has had this problem and nows how to fix it,kind regards
Same thing happened to the first UK caravan I bought down here and I tried the same thing as you. Quickly came to the conclusion that there was no way you can lift that side up to fix it back in the original position without completely dismantling and rebuilding the van, in fact trying to jack it up was just crushing the bottom skirt on that side. In the end I replaced the edge battens and top layer of ply in the floor along that edge. I then screwed a piece of square section treated wood along the underside edge of the floor from underneath and screwed through the original screw holes into that wood from the side (after squirting in some sealant along the join). The drop on mine was about an inch or so on that side and didn't make that much difference or inconvenience when using the van. I just made sure the side to side level was taken from the fridge and not the floor. That van is still being used by my mate with no further (major) problems.
