Hi,

I have some damp around the offside front window on my Bailey pageant. The right hand (closest to the side) wooden upright needs replacing along with the small section of wall board and part of the wooden top hanger.

I'm a keen diy'er and reel I can undertake the job, has anyone done similar?
I'm finding info but on older vans!

I've had a quote of a very reputable local expert of £600, I'd like to save some pennies as we are considering changing the van for the side dinette and rear bunks (Bretagne model, mines the Auvergne).

He's quoted to £500 to do the front awning rails and cross piece, I will be setting him on with this as I don't feel I can guarantee a perfect job like him!

Any info would be great, Cherrs Matt

OK, I will have another look.

Is there a reputable supplier of the window seal and wall board etc?

Thanks again

So it looks like I have rounded up the required parts!

Im now looking into the repair and to figure out how the water has come in.
Do the window rail/hangers leak?! Someone told me that they can pull away and leak into the screw holes?

Cheers again matt

Yes you will need to remove outside rails & refit with new sealant.

The leak is likely from the window rail, ours leaked there as well.
You say you are looking to change to the bretagne, I have just sold mine. Be aware that the bunks in the bretagne suffer badly with condensation - this is due to the access door in the side of the van being thinner than the surrounding wall - We had a number of issues with wet pillows.

Thanks for the reply.

Ive made some progress as shown in the pic.

It looks like the window seal has failed. The pic shows the wood on the right had side is completely rotten from just lower than half way down, this lines up with marking on the window seal. I cannot find any damage to the seal but it looks like its leaked for a while. Ive not yet checked the front panel for any damage.

The wood at the top of the windows all looks fine, for this reason am I right in thinking the window hanger rail should not be touched?!

The awning rails and front top cross rail are going to be resealed professionally next month.

Thanks for the heads up on the Bretagne, is there a fix?! a mate has just bought one!

A link is attached to a photobucket of the job so far!

Any suggestions where I can get a small piece of wall board? Alternatively Bailey sell just the wall paper, ill get that.

Cheers
MAtt
