Hi all. We have a Lunar LX2000 with a broken water inlet. The part where the internal hose fist connects has snapped (the valve that sticks out from the filter housing). Not sure how, I guess the plastic has just perished over the years.

I believe it's a Carver Crystal MK2, now obsolete but can still be bought (third party versions). So - do I just but a new inlet from Amazon market place for £38, or is there another better solution? Can it be replaced with a different brand/version, and would this be advisable?

I would recommend upgrading to the more reliable Ultraflow housing. These have been designed pretty much as a direct replacement and can easily be done by someone with basic DIY skills. They are available as an upgrade kit and supplied complete with replacement trigger fitting to upgrade the pump connector too, supplied as either standard inlet or with an integrated filter to suit whatever you're upgrading from.

That looks like a good option. Any idea of cost? I assume a new immersion pump is also needed? Where to buy?

A quick search found this supplier selling the standard kit at £35, https://www.caravanaccessoryshop.co.uk/product/truma-ultraflow-compact-conversion-........
The submersible pump can be upgraded by swapping out the supplied fitting for the compatible trigger connection.

As mentioned, there's a filtered version too (available on same site as per link) and only other option is whether you want white or ivory colour.

I must admit though, that does seem to be a little more DIY than I'm used too.

I guess only you can assess whether you're comfortable to fit this, but if you're having to replace the inlet anyway, there isn't much more work involved to upgrade. In most cases the inlet is a direct swap (still got to be sealed as a new fit), and the trigger fitting is pretty straightforward too.
Take another careful read thru the blurb and maybe enlist help if unsure.

What is the easiest way to seal the new one?

Also, I saw a couple of posts on here from a guy who sold the kit (including non-return valve etc, which I believe is required) but those posts where from 2010. Anyone know if he is still active and selling them?

As you currently have a Crystal II fitted, I'm sure you'll already have an inline non-return valve fitted as standard in the system (the Crystal didn't have them integrated).

When fitting mine, I used the standard 19mm wide mastic tape available from all decent caravan accessory stores (example here). This can be ran around around the rear face of the inlet and then any surplus is fairly easy to trim away once the housing is fitted.
