Hi guys so my project hasn't got too far over Xmas http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=31&TopicID=341866

Looking at progressing with it start of may,

been looking into it though and I think I'm definitely reinstating the gas hob and grill.

few more questions though

would laminate flooring underlay (2mm foam) be an adequate insulation for the walls ?

what is the best cost effective frame to ally body adhesive?

also could anyone help identify the age of the van, 5heres no plates anywhere.

few pics for you to look at :)

Looks like a B and B hitch so I think that would make it before 1984 ish. Is there a date stamp on the wheels? Our old B and B equipped caravan had shock absorbers and coil spring suspension, that would confirm early 1980's. Have you tried owners clubs and that sort of thing to help date it?

Insulation between the battons under the walls? 2mm is way too thin and carpet underlay will be heavy.

Modern polystyrene sheets from B&Q or similar. Fire retardant. Many thicknesses available and sheet sizes.

Like this but check its fire retardant...

PU40 from screwfix or toolstation. Approx £4 for a 300ml tube in white or black.

thanks Rob and Tina, I was trying to find what hitch it was and yeah I think it's circa 1983 just nothing to confirm.

thanks grampian, with the insulation on the walls I was thinking something like this

http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Basic-General-Purpose-Underlay/p/620801?CAWELAID=120135120000004820&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=37524961852&gclid=CJCIl8uW7dECFROZGwodn04ACA&CATCI=aud-162417460132%3Apla-193349997412%26tmcampid%3D%26tmad%3Dc%26tmplaceref%3DZr3B8bxV%26tmcustom%3Dmkwid%7CsZr3B8bxV_dm%7Cpcrid%7C102693169252%7Ckword%7C%7Cmatch%7C%7Cplid%7C%26utm_content%3DsZr3B8bxV_dm%7Cpcid%7C102693169252%7Cpkw%7C%7Cpmt%7C%7BBidMatchType%7D%7C

as the insulation which I removed was 2mm polystyrene, it was sandwiched between the batons and wall board

and thanks for the pu40 recommendation, will pick a case up.

Just took a look at the pictures, and I think that type of windows went out in the 1970s, but I'm sure there's someone on here more knowledgeable than me about that. When did plastic double-glazed windows come in? I always thought it was about 1975.

Best Regards,
Colin

thanks Dgmm5, I wasn't sure if those lights were original as it seems the front running lights have been replaced at some point.
1978 then wow, that's 15 years before I was born !
will try my best to do it some justice with my over haul, I'm. not sticking to original but aiming to keep it in good taste and solid
