The restoration continues! I'm working my way through the growing list of issues and have now repaired some pinholes in the aluminium that had been caused by the wood being saturated for so long. I've filled the holes by drilling them out with a small drill bit, then using JB Weld to seal the hole followed by a GRP patch on the inside. I want to touch up the paintwork just to finish it off and see that Bailey do a touch up paint (RAL 9001) at £15 for 125ml. Holts Colour Match Pro match this colour to HCR06. Has anyone tried this colour or touch up pen? I just wondered if it was a good match as at £6.95 for 300ml it's a darn site cheaper!
When I have wanted a paint match I have always used a motor body repair paint supplier where they can mix the colour for me. I am talking professional here as I have the facilities and expertise to spray paint but if you want a professional finish go to an accident repair specialist and get a quote. I am sure they can help and give you good advice after all I'm sure you want and wish for a really good finish to your project. If I can help please contact.
That's the very reason you should go to a vehicle body repair paint supplier. They can mix the paint to your requirements and take age/fading into account or they should do! Anyway that's my advice for what's it worth I'm sure someone will probably give you better advice!
Thanks for the tips. I'm going to grab a can at that price and test it out on a small patch somewhere it won't be seen. If its out then I'll get my brother (who's a mechanic) to get his bodywork shop to mix some up. I'll let you know the results. Cheers!
Hi. I was just wondering if the paint was a good match. I have just scratched my 2007 bailey senator with an awning pole and i was looking to get tidy it up. Cheers
Took rear grab handle off my '98 Pageant to the Motor Factors today to see if they could colour match it. The front resin handles had discoloured really badly and had to be rubbed down. Holts HCR06 was what the chap suggested. I am delighted with it. Still only £6 and bought locally:)
