Anyone help me.
I have a 2002 Abbey Safari 470 2 berth. The problem is that I don't know how to work the alarm. I have 1 key fob and a control unit above the door. I can press the fob and hear a clicking on the control panel.
The control panel has got these markings on them...
PIR, TILT, TOW, FNC, TILT SETUP. Can anyone tell me what I need to do? The key fob has 2 buttons on it, I,II.
Hi not fully conversant with your system but usually the first thing to check is if the alarm has a back up battery,(they supposed to be changed every 3 yrs)
pir stands for Passive infrared or movement detector usually in the van roof, this should light up as it detects heat movement even when not set.and is powered by the battery.
Have you just bought the van or just never used the alarm?
Is the main van battery charged?
Not an expert but just a couple of little pointers that may help
Hi
Where would the back up battery be? Underneath those symbols are buttons, 2 under each word. You can press them and hear a beep and sometimes they light up, but after a few seconds they all go blank. Had the caravan 2 years, never used it. To be honest I've only just found the key fob remote.

Hi again, usually in the alarm panel.
I would try checking the battery with a volt meter
Are you sure the buttons are not numbers to set the code?
.The default code would be 1234
just had a quick look ,not sure how to post links but try a google search for
IDM4 CARAVAN ALARM (the swift owners club)
It is a pdf file is just as you describe your panel
Full instructions
Hope this helps GCB
These alarms have a facility to see how long the alarms internal battery will last, which, IIRC is a maximum of 6 months. If significantly less the back up battery may need to be changed, in the same way that those in domestic alarm systems have to be.
When you locate the alarm box, this is pop rivetted together as an anti tamper measure, so these have to be drilled out and replaced. The Yuasa batteries are readily available on line.
