Hi just got my first caravan compass rallye 360 it a 1990 could anyone help just need to know what the cassette toilet is powered by as it does not seem to flush is it main or the battery thanks mick
On a caravan of that vintage the chances are that its a manual flush operated by twisting open the blade knob to allow the contents to drop down into the holding tank, then twisting the pump knob to pump fresh water from the filler tank jnto your toilet bowl.
Electric flush toilets were a very rare feature back then, unless someone has fitted an upgrade over the years.

Do you have an external door for removing the holding tank, or is it more like a Porta Potti where the holding tank forms part of the base undernieth the flush bowl?

Sounds like the electric flush model if there is a pump under the toilet roll holder. It's powered from the 12v system. Flush activated by pressing the blade release knob down. It may be the pump impeller has got stuck. The pump can be removed by taking out one screw and pulling the assembly out of the toilet roll holder hole. See if you free off the impeller by turning it with a small screwdriver.
If this doesn't get it going you will need to check the 12v supply to the toilet. There is a fuse accessible from the outside through the cassette hatch. I'd check that first. When mine failed it was down to corrosion on the connector which joined the cable from the toilet to the 12v supply. This was located under the toilet so I had to take the whole toilet out. Quite easy once you've removed the screws on the back of the toilet ( accessed through cassette hatch)
One other thing to mention is the microswitches. The cassette must be in to allow the toilet to flush. The microswitch is closed when the cassette is pushed in.
Hi
Try taking out the little pump and in the bottom try turning the impeller type fan thingi in the bottom
If left unused for some time they clog up
Works on mine
Good luck

Mains supply should charge battery via a charger which transforms 240v ac into approx 12-14 volts dc.

Hi will my 1990 van have a charger as can't seem to find one cheers
The charger is also called a transformer but it depends on the layout as to where the charger is located. It could be under a worktop or directly behind the battery compartment under a seat but wherever it is it needs ventilation if that's any clue where to look.
The link below is for illustration purposes only but at least it gives you an idea what a charger/transformer looks like.
