This is an awkward one nor being able to see the stuff first hand. You can buy some mould remover from places like Home and Bargain fir about a quid a bottle. I used some on a pvc window frame in our bathroom and it got rid of the black mould very quickly. You would need to check the bottle to ensure that it won't affect your vans paintwork though. Try WD40 as well, if you can use it for cleaning paint brushes I am sure removing a bit of moss would be a breeze. Or make up a 50/50 solution of washing up liquid and warm water, brush it on and leave it for a while to see if it lifts it. Anything that saves you a lot of scrubbing must be worth a try.
