Hi all,
Replacing the flooring in our Monza mk2, question is , thinking of replacing with a single sheet of plywood? Or would it be better to build floor like original, not sure that floor needs insulation, just a good thick sheet of ply , obviously coated on the underside to waterproof, any ideas/ opinions??
Cheers
Simon
A single sheet of ply wont have the same strength as the 2 layer with the foam sandwiched between them.
Also you will lose the insulation properties of the sandwich construction.
To get the same strength you will need a thick piece of ply which will weigh a lot compared to the original floor also. You may go over the caravans gross weight very quickly.
The floor is rotten in places, we have trim around van and everything below that is rotten, including the floor edges and I mean rotten it just fell away in small black lumps of soggy wood and needs replacing , easier to replace complete panels etc.
Simon, daft question but I suppose you have found the source of the water ingress before replacing the floor. Rotten in places, could be a few water ingress points!
