Where mines stored on a small farm several, 3 houses, ones the main farmhouse and 2 other houses for workers/family? I havnt been nosey and asked whether its family.
Plenty of space to move vans if one did catch fire and the only issue with access is the road in is fairly long anyway.
They could easily drag a van out and to the ends of the compound.
Would they? Depends on the circumstances i guess. I think they would if it was one of the vans at the rear of their large barn. But less so if its at the end of the compound with little risk of it spreading.
The weather may also have an effect, after a long dry spell with dry hedges and grass between the vans and the garage for the main house.
Every time we go down there is always someone around to say hello to.

CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE Co. as many do not cover theft of caravan if wheelclamp and coupling have not been fitted.
and that is why we chose the CMC insurance.
Only a hitch lock is required.
Rather pointless me arguing with the site owner's rule of "steadies up", as it is his rule.
IF it was safe to do so, caravans could be dragged away from a burning caravan. Note the caveat of IF.
IF not safe; let the insurance pay up.
Steadies up also allows the owner to trim the grass around the site
marramc48 beat me to it. our insurance stipulates that we have to have the wheel clamp on when van is in storage. We put our steadies down too but also use a drill with a fitment to wind them up & down.

I'm quite surprised that any caravan insurance stipulates that just a hitch lock is only required for security as a minimum deterrent against theft. After all said and done, if it can be towed away by the site owner it can be just as easily be towed away by a thief.
Caravan and Motorhome club insurance require one device extract from website "Policy conditions require that at least one security device is fitted when the caravan is not in use and unhitched from the towing vehicle. If you do not secure the caravan, insurers can decline to pay a theft claim."
This thread has moved some way from the OP post, I now always keep my steadies down, my van is stored on my drive. A few years ago the van was pushed by the wind into the garage door. I'd only left the van for a couple of minutes before winding down the steadies but the wind had no problem in pushing the van a few feet up the drive.
