Not sure what it is but when we connect the electrics to the car theres a whiring sound that lasts probably about a second, almost like an electronic handbrake on a car.
When I connected to my new car after the winter it seemed the whiring didn't seem to stop like it usually does. The sound appears to come from the nearside rear/centre
Could anyone enlighten me as to what the problem could be?
If you have had the van a while and it is the ATC, surely you will always have heard it.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Yep, ATC or equivalent doing a self-test at power-up to check that all is working. Strangely unnerving at first though I must admit.
It may be that the old car's electrics were not wired to power it up previously, it's a separate 20Amp fused supply to pin 9 on the newer 13 pin socket.

Just spoken to the local caravan maintained guy and the first thing he asked was it a new car. He's suggested I try another caravan to see if does the same think. I'll probably do a little video then go to the caravan at the dealership. Seems my new car may not be wired up correctly
I'm not sure to be honest Rob. It's always made the noise like I said, almost sounds like an electronic handbrake, when I hooked up my new car the noise seemed to continue without stopping
Sorry keelbyfish, I didn't read the latter part of your original post correctly. There shouldn't be a continuous whirring sound, it sounds to me that there is a problem.
Get the unit tested, it doesn't like something and is hunting for the expected results.
Dave.

I'm going to email the dealership and send them a video. Hopefully they'll suggest I hook up my car to another caravan and it's the electrics on the new car. If it doesn't do it when I'm hooked to another van, I've got a problem because I don't fancy towing my van to get it repaired
