I am about to embark on a project to build a teardrop trailer :) which i cant wait.
I have been offered an existing trailer chassis of about the right size however i am unsure what weight the suspension units are rated to so will be replacing them for 750kg ones, ideally i also want to use 13inch wheels on the trailer, does anyone know if i can just fit standard 13inch 4x100 car wheels off of something like a ford or VW to the standard hubs you get with a set like the below.
I am pretty happy with my plan for the rest of the build but a little undecided on the wheel setup at the moment, the trailer has 8inch wheels at present but i fear they are too small for a teardrop both ascetically and from a safety point.
Can't open your link but car tyres 155/80X13 will be ok. Standard Alko caravan chassis 13inch wheels are 100mm pcd so they would do the job. Any caravan shop stocks them or usually some secondhand off eBay.
A quick google tells the op that 750kg unbraked suspension units for 13inch wheels are available. Pcd is 5.5inch & 13inch 5.5inch pcd wheels are available from any trailer parts supplier. They can be used with tyre size as in my previous post.
Thanks, everyone. I did a little more research over the weekend and have found a suppler selling 750kg suspension sets with 13inch wheels which fit :) Looking forward to getting started now
It could workout cheaper and easier to buy a small caravan and do it up, my first project was with a old 10ft sprite, I would love to do one again...maybe one day
