Not sure about your model but I had an Electrolux RM4230 which I replaced with a Dometic RM5330. My model had 4 screws at the front side of the fridge, two on each side one upper one lower covered by screw covers which just prise of (gently). My old fridge died and had to be replaced. Removing the old fridge was easy, turn off electric, gas, unscrew the hidden screws tilt forward disconnect the electric and gas at the top of the fridge, ease out. Fitting a new one was more difficult I removed the fridge and there was enough room for some extra support at the side so I fitted some 5mm marine ply and installed battens to accommodate longer screws. I was able to fit the extra battens where they couldn't be seen, under the sink and in the front locker. I did find that the screws provided had worn into the fixing points and a batten for me was essential I used phillips cross head Bugle Dachrotised screws 3.5mm x 50mm and 3.5mm x 45mm. It was an under arch fridge one of my issues was the new fridge wanted to tilt backwards I fitted a support batten on the caravan floor under the fridge. Not difficult but a little time consuming took me about 5 hours (I'm a slow worker!).I appreciate your fridge is different, mine didn't/doesn't have straps. I emailed Dometic regarding the need for a support and they were quick to reply. You might need to have a gas pressure test after you have disconnected and reconnected the gas. Don't cover any sink hole in the caravan floor. Hope this helps.
thanks for the reply fridge is fitted to a 2003 caravan (makers now defunct)have already located & uncovered & removed the 4 screws & tried to replace them, with slightly larger ones, but they wont to go in, seems to be coming against metal ??, plus one of the plastik sunk screw things has broken, so has Domtec taken over Electrolux ??
Mine was just screwed into wood. Over the years the caravan movement had enlarged the screw holes making the fridge loose. Wonder if the metal is a heat shield? Is it possible to take the fridge out and drill a pilot hole into the metal then screw in a longer self tapper? When you are screwing in the screw will only seat into the fridge screw hole which in my case had a plastic seat stopping me going further, a bit like a washer, before going through the metal side of the fridge into wood. If the screw holes are standard I'm sure Dometic will advise re obtaining the screw covers.
bloody hell thats a lot of dosh for just the cover lol my covers are ok it is the bit that cover clips into that is broken lol, but from what you tell me the screw holds the insert in place, so if i can find original screw holes i will stick that back in with super glue
i was going to replace them with stainless steel ones, it is just the 2 brown plastic sliders i need then, that opens the fridge door when you open the cupboard, pity i cant post pics here ??
I've seen pics on here but no idea how its done perhaps someone can advise. I think you can download pictures into your gallery on your personal profile. You can get at your personal profile via the members only tab
