We are thinking of re upholtering the current caravan and are thinking of going for a grey colour, either a tartan style or with a fleck in it. Anyway looking around current caravans to get some ideas etc was still supprised to notice that most are still based around Brown/Red/Green colours and variations of them.
Are we missing something here as to why grey is not used too? or are we paraniod here and just go with our preference.
I can see n reason why you shouldn't use grey, ours is a cross between grey and beige. As with all colours the thing to be aware of is that it's not too dark or dull, although there are plenty of caravan interiors that are.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
Hi,
What we done to preserve the original upholstery my wife and a local seamstress went to a fabric store and chose a grey colour.
The seamstress then ran up the covers and I can tell you it makes it a lot lighter and doesn't show marks.
As we sometimes take a cat with us we can just take the covers off and wash them.It also protects the original upholstery.
It worked out a lot cheaper than the alternative of replacing the original.
Regards,
Greg
There's a shop in Newcastle under Lyme called One Price Fabric. All it's fabrics are £3.99 including curtain fabric and upholstery. They have mountains of fabric but only have what you can see on the day.

Some grey fabric on this site but £38 per metre Here We covered ours using fabric from a cheap local source. My wife is a nifty sewer and we were able to borrow my sisters industrial sewing machine.
I agree with Geoff48 re industrial machine we actually bought a secondhand one and replaced our upholstery then sold it on for the same price we paid. it's hard work when you have three or four pieces of heavy fabric to sew together.
Only in my opinion the caravan manufacturers will go with what they have, what's tried and tested, and what's cheapest for them to buy from their suppliers.
I guess caravan fabrics have some legacy heritage, so set in their ways. My better half has added her own curtains and blinds based on her own preference/new colours and fabrics. It did give us additional cost but added her own touch to the camper van (which it was at the time).
