Hi all,
I'm a newbie...please forgive if in wrong section.
Ptoblem.:-
Won't work on 12V or mains....
The fridge works on gas all ok.
1. I have checked both 12V and 240V supply into back of fridge. All ok, present and correct.
2. The green lamp for 240v in switch works ok.
3. All 12v circuits in van work. ( Bailey , Magenta Pageant.)
4 confirm...12v is there at rear connectors.
I have the circuit diagrams and note that there are two separate heaters. i.e 12V and 240V.
It seems strange that both could possibly fail together,
5. Is the thermostat for the 12v cct and 240v circuit the same. It is unclear to me.
6. If the thermostat controls both electrics, is it worth replacing before the heaters.
P.S. I have no idea how to check the heaters. other than 'open circuit' or 'short circuit'...I don't know any resistance values for the heater elements.
Thank you for reading my query.
Regards..
I do not know how to set up personal emails or whether it's safe to add my email in this post.
Please help moderator.?
Hi,
Many thanks for your speedy reply.
The 12V runs from the twin charging unit which is powered from the mains. It is switcheable from car to van or central position to run all 12v from transformer.
I seem to recall it working without being connected to a running engine as the tourer has been in situ for 8 years.
When we have lost our mains power. the leisure battery has coped and worked the fridge.
Am I missing a relay somewhere possibly.?
Many thanks Steve.
Your looking at roughly 480 ohms for the 240v element. Much less for the 12v element, the maths says 1.2 ohms... ouch no wonder they flattern batteries.
