Can anyone help please
we own a 2009 sterling Europa 620 which has the Nordelettrinica ne143 du charger ne190 control panel and ne 189 fuse box. My problem is that it will not run on 12v alone. if you connect to mains you must have the battery charger switch on which differs from the manual. if you connect to a car it all works fine. Mains power runs fine and also powers all 12 v in van but when disconnected from mains you cannot select 12v on control panel( when you select battery you just get 0.1 on the control panel). I have contacted a few companies with all different replies. some say charger, some control panel others fuse box. just wondered if anyone has a Europa that I could compare with and try some tests.

When you select 'battery' and receive a signal of 0.1 then that indicates that the battery is defective which appears that the gauge is confirming this so you firstly need to check the battery independently with a multimeter and undertake a test to see exactly what the voltage is. You also need to test the charger as well by removing the battery and disconnecting the terminals. Connect the multimeter to the battery terminals then switch on the mains power and check the voltage being transferred which should give a reading of about 13.8 volts.
If that proves satisfactory then take the battery to an auto electrics outlet and have the battery load tested which they will confirm what the state of the battery is.

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
One of the problems that I have is that on the NE190 control panel the battery leisure switch must be selected to on in order to get the battery to charge. I only found this out by another thread that in all the time I owned the caravan I thought I was charging it and was not. I thought you only had to have the charger switch selected on the power supply but was told you also nee to select caravan battery to charge. This I confirmed with a multi meter before when it was working. So by what you have said about checking at the terminals that I am getting charge I cannot as the switch will not select leisure battery. As for the condition of the battery I have two (one for mover the other for van and are both new) I swapped these anyway with no difference.
The thing that is strange when I read the manual you can have mains on without the charger switch selected and should work but mine only works when battery charger switch is selected on charger.
You are correct in that if voltage is under 10volts then it will not select but manual also says if you have a defective battery or charger then you cannot select leisure battery.
Apuljack think it is control panel and fuse box possible relay fault on back of fuse box and another company think it is charger fault.
