We have a Dometic fresh jet air con fitted to the roof of the caravan .when switched on the fan and compressor come on as normal but the air is not cold . Any suggestions before I contact the dealer
Hi there, saw your post. We have a Truma air con unit fitted under the bed on our caravan. We had problems & OH cleaned filter out which sorted it - it was full of fluff. Don't know if this is of any help. We're currently in Austria, very hot & very pleased we have air con. Sara

If it's under warranty contact the dealer, if not let a local refrigeration firm look at it. It could be a few things. The dealer will only sub the work out to a refrigeration firm anyway.. I know because I used to do the work for a main dealership, they don't employ refrigeration engineers.
it might just need topping up/new refrigerant (if that's the way they work) if it does, why not consider taking it to a garage that advertises air con top up? they would test for leaks and top up for you??
A/C units need running regularly as the lubricant for the seals is in the gas so if it's not run the seals dry and the gas escapes when you do turn it on.

When did you last use it?

Hopefully it just needs a regas
There's no compressor shaft seal on these systems, the compressor is a hermetically sealed unit. Your thinking of car AC.
hi Dallavalle, I had Dometic aircon on my last caravan and it played up. When I put it in for service, the so called "caravan engineers" didn't have a clue how to sort it. I now have a new caravan and could really have done with aircon on the recent holiday in France, but didn't bother paying close to a couple of grand to get it fitted because I knew I would struggle to get it sorted if it went wrong. Why do we bother forking out close to 200 quid to get caravans serviced when they can only fix the easy stuff?
Hi
My Dometic let me down at 1630 on a Sunday, at 38*C in the shade. 🤬
I went to Mr Bricolage and bought a portable one for €180. Had tontake it back when the random button presser locked it. They figured it out. Looked a bit weird venting through the front window, but it worked!
Nobody wants to service the aircon so, if it ever stops raining, the University of YouTube and I will have a go!

Ours also went the same way and quote was about £600 as needed to change a PCB and if that did not work, change another PCB. They cannot be regassed. Our Freshjet gave us so much hassle in its 5 year life span that we dumped it for a Truma. No fun having no air con when in Spain!
