Hi
My domestic fridge has stopped working on mains
Works fine on gas and when connected to the car on 12v
When you turn it on the green light comes on but that's all that happens
I changed the pcb board that made no difference any ideas please
Hi Bob,
Firstly is all other 240V equipment working?.
If it seems to be getting power is your fridge on an angle?.Ie caravan on a slope.
Modern caravan fridges are much better but some will not work if they are at an angle.
Apart from that, have you an isolation switch in a cupboard that's inadvertently been turned off.
Good luck.
Regards,
Greg
Possible heating element or bad mains connection to fridge, though I would check power to the fridge first. Looks like spares are available for your fridge see here
I have power going to the fridge it's on the level
I have noticed that if I turn it onto gas it works fine I can then turn the gas off and turn the 240 on the green light comes on and you can hear the click on the thermostat when you turn the control.
You probably have a manual in case you don't the link is here
If your fridge is working on gas presumably you have a constant yellow light and if the fridge becomes colder then there is no coolant circulation problems. If the fridge doesn't become colder on gas there could be a coolant blockage. That would affect the operation of all modes. The green light showing that the mains electric is on indicates the fridge is receiving mains power. Its not neccessarly working the heating element. If the mains voltage drops below 200v it won't work I expect this isn't the case. I am assuming the temperature control is set to medium? If it is then the problem may be the temperature control knob or maybe the 230 heating element. If you ring a Dometic service centre they may be able to help.
Thanks for that info
When I run on gas the temp falls and everything is fine
Turn over to mains and if you listen carefully you can hear the the thermostat click on and off when turned but then after a while stops
Maybe the thermostat but its a bit beyond my expertise. I had to renew my fridge last year but that was relatively easy the ammonia solution had corroded the pipe (fridge was 26 years old). New fridges don't come cheap over £550 for mine. Then there was fitting and making secure to work at. I think the next step is to contact Dometic they were quite helpful with me. I used the messaging template on their website and did receive a quick response. The link for Dometic is Here
Best of luck.
