We have a 2006 Abbey Acclaim SL and have major problem with the Whale water pump. When plugged in and tap used its gushes water from the point where the pump connects to the van. I've checked the O ring on the pump and it seems in good condition. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't want to spend £50/£60 on a new one if it might be something else? Many thanks in advance. Adam. See link for pump type.
Possibly the non return valve has failed in the caravan, its located just behind the water inlet. If you google "non return valve caravan" you'll see a few threads regarding this.
There should be 2 o rings present. If the block is correctly located, it should be possible to fold the cover flap down from vertical to horizontal. If you can't achieve this, the block is not pushed in enough and it will leak
There is only one rubber 'O' ring on the Truma Crystal connector which is the one shown in your photo, however some connectors do have two 'O' rings such as the Truma Ultraflow pistol trigger type connector which was introduced on later model caravans. I had mine converted from the Crystal to the Ultraflow merely because the Crystal type connector appear to suffer from issues which is a classic identical to yours regarding back pressure. Firstly you need to replace the 'O' ring because over time all rubber sealing rings harden and deteriorate very much like rubber tyres. Secondly, check that one of the swivel securing clips hasn't broken as these secure the 'O' ring in the tapered hole. If the problem still exists then the back pressure at the inlet could be a fault with to the non return valve which may have seized up not allowing the water to flow creating back pressure. There is also a built in non return valve directly behind the water inlet (where the cold water pipe connects to) but the whole inlet will have to be replaced if you want to replace this one as well.
