About to carry out a repair of my Lunar Quasar floor using the One Shot kits sold on eBay.
The kitchen section (middle of the van) are spongy but both ends are fine.
After lifting the carpet I plan to replace it with wood effect click viynl fooring.
My dilema is how much of the floor to drill and fill with the one shot and dowels. I am tempted to do the whole van rather than just the spongy bits. My theory being it will prevent my having to lift the floor covering in future and fix new spongy bits. Any advice re this? Will doing a preemptive repair on non spongy bits work and prevent them becoming spongy?
I used one shot on my van - follow the instructions and it works fine. I used drill bits with a stopper to ensure correct drilling depth. If you are doing this on your drive I would suggest covering with a cheap plastic dust sheet to catch any spillage. The other thing I had a problem with was drilling through under floor water pipes. My sink pipes came across the van from the inlet to kitchen sink in a diagonal line - I had incorrectly assumed that the pipes would have been installed straight across (like domestic electric cable). There's no point in doing areas that don't need it. The most time consuming part was removing the factory installed carpet it took some time to remove all the staples. I used vinyl after with a couple of mats - much easier to keep clean.
I've got to do a second section now between fixed bed and toilet, first one was front door and sink/kitchen area which received most traffic. Did same one shot and dowels method as trog and it was a complete success. Luckily no hidden pipes or wires to cause problems.
Like already said you can't quite pre-empt the future job because you need the internal space for the expanding foam to create the structure and strength surrounding the dowels, they give so much strength to the job.
