I'm lookig for a box trailer or caravan I can use for camping but will also let me transport 2 kayaks and a 14 foot canoe.
My plan is to have a relativly empty van with space for the boats and a bike or two. All I need for camping are a couple of bunks and maybe a place for a gas stove.
I'm not sure whether to go for a used box trailer or a used caravan which I'd then strip out entirely.
I'm a bit worried about damp if i get a used caravan although I'm tempted as there are a lot around and they're quite sheap...also a lot of the work will already be done for me....windows, doors, locks, gas and electrics....hatches ....
Stripping out a caravan you will lose all it's rigidity, it's the furniture that keeps it all upright.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
If you are planning to use camping/caravan sites I would forget the horsebox/van trailer option as you would possibly be contravening their site license conditions.
you could strip out an old van BUT then put in additional strengthening by means of studwork positioned to reintroduce the internal stability. you could position it in such a way as to provide the storage and facilities you need. if you do remove the complete interior, I would suggest making use of acrow props to make sure the van doesn't implode!!!
I think your idea is doable with some planning and lots of accurate measuring !!
