hi all I have a 1991 swift challenger 450/5 i connected gas to caravan and tried to light hob but nothing on any of the 3 hobs. was wondering if anyone has had similar to this and any solutions
Lets start with the basics:
Is there any gas in the cylinder?
Is the tap on the cylinder on?
Is the tap on the regulator on?
Is there a gas tap in the gas locker? If so, is it turned on?
Assuming all the gas taps are on, can you hear the gas coming through the burner jets when you turn the hob on?
If you work your way along the gas lines can you hear any gas escaping?
This is just a process of elimination to find out what the problem is. Has the caravan been serviced recently?
I bought the caravan I have now only a few weeks ago. The cooker worked fine when I bought it, but even though it was a trade sale from a dealer, they said they would do a full gas check on it before I collected it. This they did. When I was going through everything before going away, I couldn't get the hob to work. Then I discovered a gas valve in the cupboard next to the cooker, which was turned off!
Is the lid of the hob fully raised? If it hits e.g. A fairy liquid bottle on the shelf it may not be fully open and the safety device won't allow gas through.
If you have had the gas off it can sometimes take a while for the gas to come through. Double check along the length of the gas pipe working from the cooker back and make sure all gas taps are open if they are you possibly have one that is jammed shut and needs replacing.

all sorted now I was opening the fridge valve as cooker valve is in the cupboard next to the one I looked in lol
That sounds very similar to what I was doing. I didn't realise that there was a gas valve in the cupboard, or that the dealer would have turned it off after doing the gas check.
