Hi,any advice welcome please . We have seen a 2006 Avondale Dart that we are interested in buying. However there are spongy areas inside around the front and back awning rails. If we were to reseal the awning rails would that be sufficient . If we left the inside would it deteriorate further ? Thanks

You would be trapping the moisture in and further damage rot would occur. Sorry to say in my opinion it needs stripping back to reveal the full extent of the problem.

I recently bought a Swift challenger 1990 450/5SE with damp issues. I stripped it back to replace a small area around windows etc,but discovered major damp behind blue foam insulation. I decided to replace the whole areas and also replaced the rotted wood as well. I'm now replacing the flexy ply walls will flexy white gloss plastic sheeting. My advice is if there's spongy walls/ceilings etc and it's cheap but it. If not walk away.!!!

Best thing you could do is walk away and don't look back. What may look like a small section of damp on the surface will be tenfold when you start to remove the wall boards. I've carried out a damp repair in the past and full reseal. and yes it's quite straight forward but very time consuming and unless your inside your always watching the weather.

I wouldn't ever buy a caravan if it had signs of damp when I went to view it. Maybe that's why it's for sale in the first place.
