I am new to caravanning and looking to get my first van early next year. I obviously want the best deal but I heard that some dealers wont service your caravan unless you bought it from them. Don't want to be travelling 100 miles to get it serviced cos that was the best deal at the time, any comments or suggestions from seasoned caravanners?
Caravan franchised dealers do not have the type of relationship with manufacturer as do franchised car dealers with manufacturer. Unlike car franchises, caravan franchises are not obliged to service caravans not suppgglied by them. If they do then it is their choice. Probably best bet for convenience is to buy from local dealer then you do not have to go far for service & warranty work.
Large dealers that pile'em high & sell cheap generally do not have sufficient workshop space to service the amount of caravans they sell so their after sales service will tend to be a disappointment.
Sorry have never heard of a caravan dealer turning away business in this day.
We have just bought a new van from a dealer which is a 100 mile round trip and they are perfectly happy for me to get the van serviced at a local dealer which is only a 20 mile round trip.

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
