Hi
I bought an Elddis Cyclone 5 berth caravan and it has a Carver 5500 Fanmaster heater. It works perfectly on electric but I cant get it to work on the gas. I can hear and see a spark when I turn the knob but it wont ignite and there is no smell of gas. The fridge is working fine on the gas.
We have also checked the jets and they are not dirty
Has anyone any other suggestions ?

Could there be an isolation valve somewhere for just the heater that has been turned off?

ok got it working. the valve was on but the rod that pushes down to ignite wasnt pushing down far enough it was being blocked. but now i can hear the ignition spark all the time even when it is lighting. is that supposed to happen?

It should stop once the fire has gone on to the main jet.
Well after a second or two.

ya Ive seen a couple of posts on other sites where this happens too and its a spark unit that's needed which is very hard got for the carver so they just wired up the ignition to a switch and you can turn it on and off

If it continues to spark after it's lit then the spark generator has failed but they are easy to replace but not cheap
