Hi, hope you can help. We were in our van this morning just waiting for the kettle to boil, when the electrics went off. We have checked the fuses, all ok, and the very helpful warden checked our cable as well as their electric point where we hooked up and everything was ok there too. Previous to this we had been hooked up for three days without any issues.
Not sure if we are missing something obvious.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
There aren't any fuses on the 240 volt mains circuit. You should be checking the MCB to see if any of the trip switches need resetting. Fuses are only incorporated in the 12 volt electrical circuit.
I had a similar problem just before going to France last year. The problem was a loose connection giving an intermittent fault on my hook up cable. I borrowed next vans EHU cable after establishing with site no fault on the site EHU bollard. Electrics in van worked using that cable so mine was an easy fault to find. Don't know how your EHU cable was checked but may be worth looking at your lead connections.
Hi,Thank you for your reply. I should have said in my original post that we also checked the MCB and there were no issues there, none of the trip switches had tripped.
The MCBs should only trip if their has been a current overload. The RCD detects earth leakage. If you have a multitester can you remove the control panel cover and see if you have power from the MCB's, if you have no power it could be a faulty RCD or MCB.
On the RCD there should be a test button with the van connected to electric, press the button and it should trip the RCD switch if there’s power coming in to the van. We can advise more after that is answered
