I brought our caravan home from Winter storage yesterday and all roads lights were working when I checked before setting off. During the drive home I indicated to turn right and noticed the trailer light on the dashboard was not on.
I pulled in, checked the lights and the right hand indicator on the caravan was not working (all other lights were fine) I disconnected the plug from the car and checked for dirt in the plug, reconnected to the car and all lights were working when I checked. However the same thing happened shortly afterwards when indicating right.
Any ideas what might be causing this, I cant find any dirt in the plug or the socket.
Many Thanks
Probably corrosion on the bulb contacts giving intermittent connection. Just take the bulb out and give the contacts a clean. Probably a good idea to check the other bulbs while you are at it.
After checking the bulb connection for being sound, it might be worth checking the appropriate pin of the 12N plug (or 13-pin plug as the case may be). When we had 12N/12S plug/socket arrangement, I did find a problem which showed up as a bulb failure on my instrument panel. I took out a screwdriver and slightly increased the 'X' gap in the 12N plug pins. This immediately cured the problem.
