Hi, I have a 2009 Compass Omega 550. The Truma Ultrastore boiler is now tripping the RCD. Works OK on gas. I have checked out the element and across the live and neutral it reads 62.4 Ohms, which according to my calcualations is spot on. With my meter I also measured 4M Ohms between live and earth but 21k Ohms, rising to 280k Ohms between Neutral and Earth. The latter sounds incorrect to me. Pretty sure it is the element at fault, as with this disconnected the RCD does not trip when the controller is switched on.
Elements seem to be VERY expensive, hence reluctant to change without confirmation the above N to E is incorrect. Also, not sure how to remove the cardboard casing to get to the element, plus there doesn't seem enough space to remove the element as the bulkhead is very close to the side of the boiler!
Yep, pretty standard earth leakage problem I think, the insulation is breaking down hence the trip blowing. Never changed one but like everything on a caravan or other leisure vehicle they seem horrendously expensive compared to domestic kit.
Dave.
