I`m hoping someone can point me in the right direction to find a wiring diagram to cover pre 98 wiring guide to convert from 7s / 7n to 13 pin. I`ve wired up according to the wiring diagrams available, but i`m not getting any indicator lights on the Zig Marque I control panel or the TX 2000 panel. I noticed that the blue wire from the old 7s connections isnt covered on the conversion diagrams. This is how I`ve wired the 13 pin plug:
1. yellow
2 blue
3. white
4. green
5. brown
6. red
7. black
8. yellow
9. green
10. red
11. black
12. brown
13. white
Did you make note of the wire colours and pin numbers on the old sockets? Which pin on the 12S was the blue wire connected to? That should give us a clue.
Dave.

You really need to identify what each wire did then match it to the 13 pin diagram as cable colours changed.
Fridge and battery charging may have changed. Modern vans have a habitation relay which automates much of the functions of fridge and battery charging etc but I'm not sure when this came in. My guess would be 1998.
Good call navver, that was the reference info that I was looking at too. If, it was blue to pin 2 it says rear fog lights and it may not have them. Either way, that one wire isn't gonna fix your connection problems. Did everything work ok on the 12N & 12S before you started rewiring to the 13 pin socket?

I`ve now matched up the connections from the 7S connector to the description of the 13 pin connections and have the follwing further question:
1 - yelllow - Reversing Lights
2 - blue - Battery charging (ignition controlled)
3 - White - Return earth
4 - Green - Interior lights etc (perm 12v)
5 - Brown - Sensing Device
6 - Red - Fridge (Ignition Controlled)
7 - Black - Return Earth
So transferring this to the new 13 pin adapter, I have assumed the following:
Pin 8 - Pink - Reversing (Use Yellow from 7S)
Pin 9 - Orange (Perm 12v) - (wire in Blue and Green from 7S)
Pin 10 - Grey (Ignition Controlled) - (Wire in Red from 7S)
Pin 11 - White/Black - (Wire in White from 7S)
Pin 12 - White/Blue - (Wire in Brown from 7S)
Pin 13 - White/Red - (Wire in Black from 7S)
My question here is on the green / blue as this is a permanent supply and not ignition controlled. Clearly, it would make more sense to join the fridge (Red) and battery charging blue) together, but I`ve read about the current pull being too high on this.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks
I don't have my diagrams from that time here at work, but pin 12 White/Blue is not currently in use, just as the old brown wire wasn't.
The permanent 12v supply (orange) must be independent as must the ignition controlled fridge (Slate=grey), otherwise you could finish up with a flat battery in you car when you stop for a break, as the fridge would continue to run. Those 2 supplies should also be independently fused. Note they are independently earthed too, as there were a few melted earth wires in earlier days.
Orange being permanently live, not only charges the battery when travelling but also provides 12v power for the vans 12v systems including the lights, whilst the 13 pin plug is connected to the car.
Chris,
Yeah, I understood the sensing device wire would be redundant. The fridge and battery charging are already fuse protected in the caravan (next to the Zig Marque 1). My question is which pin do I use for battery charging? Logic would suggest the old red and blue wires go into pin 10 as this is the only ignition controlled pin, however I`ve read posts that there is too much current to do this.
In addition to my last reply, the Compass owners handbook specifically notes "the red and blue wires can under no circumstances be wired together". Also, the blue battery charging cable is indeed ignition controlled, so I can`t wire it into the green wire connection as it`s a permanent 12v supply.
This is a minefield..... I`m guessing that I either use the feed for the fridge, or the battery charging but not both??
Finally, I`ve just found a comprehensive guide for converting 12N / 12S connections to the 13 pin Euro plug. It covers both pre 1998 built and post 1998 built caravans.
It sounds like you are getting close to being ready to roll Andy. You can't beat a good forum for getting assistance from those who have done it all before like Chris, .
