When we bought the van 8 years ago I decided to invest in a heavy duty battery, which, as the name suggests, is heavy! I have had to repair a crack in the battery compartment floor.
In practice we have always camped with an electric hook up and this battery is, apparently, redundant.
What would be the consequences of leaving the battery behind? Clearly the connecting terminals would have to be secured and insulated, but would there be any other concerns regarding the electronics and other gubbins in the van/car?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
The battery is there to stabilise the flow of electric current eg,our battery went duff and when we switched on certain things the amps gauge was bouncing all over the place. You dont need a big heavy battery unless you have a mover a 70amp will do the trick
Thanks Jeff, I was told much the same by our local dealer this afternoon. Cheapest small battery £69, so will probably continue to lug large beast around.

Google "batteries" and I feel sure that you will find a suitable battery for far less than £69-00.
We always have a hook-up too, so on our last caravan we just used an old car battery. It worked fine to stabilise the voltage, and if we ever did get a power-cut it would have run a couple of lights and the water pump for a while until the power came back on. Fortunately that never happened, but it was always handy to know that we still had power if it did.
The caravan we have now has movers on, so we now use a proper 110ah leisure battery.
