A while ago I began a short stay in our van by my wife saying water was pouring down the wall in the shower. It turned out after taking mixer tap unit off that the push fit pipe on the underside of mixer tap had come off.   After a few months and 2 failed attempts to properly secure them back on (kept coming off when I turned water pump on) I took whole unit off and took it to United Caravans. The chap there told me that I was missing the little clip that fits between the 2 pipes at the point of connection to the underside of tap unit.    You can't buy clip you will have to buy a new tap - £100+!!   Really??
A tiny clip and I have to replace the lot. Anyone knows different it would be much appreciated.

I'm not surprised as it happens with many components these days as it's just a throw away society and don't believe in fixing things anymore. When I bought my caravan I found out a few months later that there should be a black button on the cooker igniter thinking it was going to cost no more than than a couple of quid. Turns out that you can only buy the whole igniter which cost over 15 pounds which I had no choice but to buy. I took off the button on the new igniter and fitted it on the cooker in a matter of a couple of seconds and the new igniter (minus the button) has gone into my spares box. Crazy!

Frustrating isn't it. But the manufacturers of these parts must buy them I doubt they manufacture this type of thing they surely just assemble component parts.

Do you have any idea what this clip looks like, perhaps from a parts diagram? Maybe we could suggest a solution if we knew this..

It's a little clip, paper clip size that fits into the nylon attachment that the hot and cold push fitting pipes fit into. It fits in between them and has a little green plastic end.

I suppose the clip has not dropped down underneath where the tap is. Perhaps fishing around with a magnet on a bit of string might be worthwhile.

You're right it did. But I didn't realise when I took the corner unit off. I just thought they were push fitting pipes. When the chap from the shop mentioned the clip my wife said ahh yeah that rings a bell when I was cleaning.....that was couple of months ago so long gone.
