The pump seems to have packed up on our Carver Crystal Water System. It’s a 1985 van with the original mark 1 system / submersible pump. Does anyone have a link to a video showing us how to replace the pump? Or instructions? Or is there a better, easy alternative? Thanks in advance.
Ah, I think I know the one. My last caravan had something like it, but it was badly damaged and bodged, so I replaced the whole assembly. That was on a 1988 Elddis Tornado.
The only other thing I can think of is to cut the pump off the pipe and buy a push-fit one. Are you sure it's the pump though? It could be a problem with a tap microswitch, and have you checked the fuses?
No, that can't be a fuse, might be an electrical connection but unlikely. The only way to check that would be to check the voltage with a meter at the pump connection. Might be the pump or a blockage, or a stuck non-return valve. I had that on my water heater recently. Because the water inlet on my last caravan was in such a mess I changed the whole thing for a truma ultraflow inlet. This has a pistol-type plug-in connection.
I would start by removing a pipe close to where the water comes into the van. Use a jug or a bottle to catch the water and briefly turn a tap on to start the pump. If the flow is ok there, the pump is fine. Then work down each pipe repeating the process. If all taps are affected then any blockage or stuck valves are likely to be near where the water enters the van. I don't know your van, so I don't know where all the pipes split off to go to each tap, but the problem is most likely to be before the first of these joints.
