I'm trying to find a relay for the 240v side of my water heater. It's a CARVER CASCADE 2 RAPIDE WATER HEATER RELAY JQX-13F. Anyone know where i can buy one, the only seller on Ebay with them has sold out and is away till the end of the week.

Do I take it this is the relay on the back of the control switch? If so I doubt its faulty and one or both of the other components is the problem

It's the one in the white box at the end of the tank. I have checked the thermostats with a multi meter and they are ok. The element resistance seems to fluctuate between 70 and 110 Ohms. The relay appears to be burnt out. I found i have a water leak around the element, so have ordered a seal kit

Now your talking of the mains electric heating?
The control switch for that then is not the same one with the relay which is for the gas heating

As my op said it's for the 240v side. Do you stock spares for that side or know where I could get a relay. Thanks

Unfortunately the Burden group doesn't exist anymore, and the number goes to uniparts

Unipart took over the Burden Group, they do some caravan stuff, but it looks like nothing to do with what you are looking for.

I've done a fair bit of searching for you and it looks like you'll have to wait for the ebay seller to return.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but given you say it's burnt, the cover unclips so its possible to clean the contacts.
I pull a 5mm wide strip of 1000 grit wet n dry through the contacts several times cleaning one side at a time, then clean with contact cleaner. Having said that, only ever come across one of these with burnt contact's.
You will have the 830w element so resistance should be stable and 64ohms, generally bang on but may vary 1 or 2 ohms either side
As for a spare, probably have got one but sorry not able to look until after the 15th

Ok, thanks for your reply. Will have a go with some wet and dry. Do the heater elements ever go bad. Will try a resistance reading again when i get it out.

Yes they do fail, but on the scale of things it's rare and then it will be open circuit so you won't get any reading.
If though it's been leaking from the tank seal rather than the element seal, then I've know water to get behind the elements connection seals and cause a short to earth. That though should have caused the rcd to trip?
