Hi everyone. The top lock catch on my inside of my exterior toilet door (the foot square one) has jammed. I can lock and unlock it the door, but I can't get the top catch to release from the hole it clicks into and open. It feels like it releases but it wont pull out. The lower one is working fine. I've tried pulling on it and wiggling the key but to no avail.

It is a case of drilling the lock out and replacing it?

Has it been closed for some time? I sometimes had this and found that the outer plastic edge of the door had stuck to the mastic that sealed the unit to the caravan wall. If so, you can gradually pull the door back and you will feel it 'give'. Good luck.

Dave.

No, I think the catch isn't moving sufficiently to release it from the little rebate it goes into.

Try pressing the lock in with one hand then press the opening edge of the door inwards with the other. You should hear a 'click' then keep the lock depressed and pull the outer edge out.
Good luck. ,DaveS1

On another similar lock (front locker) I can hear a spring compress and decompress, but not on the problem one. Maybe the spring has broken. Not sure what the fix will be.

The latch appears to be stuck fast in the aperture into which it slides when locked. I have also pulled the bottom corner out and tried sliding an 1" wide steel rule up the side and knocking the latch out, but it won't budge. I have a similar ruler which is only 12" long which I will try in a minute. It is short and stiff enough to hit with an hammer, if necessary breaking the latch. At least then I only need to get a new latch from an accessory shop.

So just cut through nylon rod which goes through top hinge and pulled the door to the left, freeing it from the latch recess. Took lock apart. Something had moved inside and jammed. Reassembled it and jobs a good one. Used some heavy duty mains copper single strand wire to fix it.

Hope someone finds this fix useful in the future.

This also works with drawers which won't open, you may have to try pressing in different places, but is a good way.
