Hi All

I have small sections in both rear floor corners rotten ply.
Any write ups or advice on how to cut them out and replace?
I know it is from rain water not getting away from the area and running underneath so I will come up with a way to deal with this as well.

Any help much appreciated

Hi Vin and welcome to the forum. Perhaps you could have a look at some other folks' rebuild work on the 'Fixed it Club' until someone who has more experience of floor corner repairs replies. Luckily it's fairly basic woodwork that's needed. A bit more detail of your outfit and approximate year of manufacture would help a lot.

Yes, you need to find the source of the water ingress first or it will happen again, dodgy lights seals, seals around handles or any trim seal that looks suspicious, mabe a pour a little water on selected areas and look for a result?

It’s an Elddis Odyssey 544 2007
I’m fairly sure the water is coming from outside as the floor inside looks ok but outside is rotting in the corner .
I noticed the back floor doesn’t get much protection from the plastic rear lower section unlike the rest of the van

The rot is usually from someone cutting the herzim strip in the awning rail too short or worse pinning it underneath to the wood.

Check that it hangs down a couple of inches or if its been cut too short push a bit of cable tie underneath it to direct water away from the floor, drain pipe idea

my money will be on the grab handles.....take them off ,,, clean off the existing seal and reseal/refit

I think I will take them off and reseal them just in case .

yes...water runs down inside of rear panel and emerges at the corner just where the awning rail/gutter runs down ( hope that sounds clear )...I had a small leak on one handle and noticed this when it was raining...water wasn't dripping from the awning rail channel but was dripping from the small gap between the floor panel and the rear abs panel of my Bailey...Handles off ...clean/reseal and all ok now...just caught in time when I brought the van out of the garage in MAY and due to the recent weather its bone dry now...

Had exactly the same issue. Removed as much of rotten wood as possible with wire brush and used Isopon car filler. 2002 van so didnt want to spend to much time on it. Seems to have done the trick. Will have a look at the grab handles as possible cause.

I had same problem. It was a small patch in each rear corner. Cut away rotten wood and the min frame was was damp checked nd ok. I filled in where the rotten wood was with isopon too. No problem and so simple
