I am having a problem with the gas regulator on my Elddis Xplore 302 (2010)
After connecting the gas cylinder and turning on the valve, gas began escaping from the regulator.
Another caravanner kindly connected his cylinder and the same thing happened.
Everything was fine the last time we were out a few weeks ago.
Has anybody come across this problem before.

Is the regulator the type that connects directly to the gas cylinder or is it located on the bulkhead in the front locker?

You may well find that the little rubber washer/seal on the regulator end of the pig-tail has perished over time. The good news is that they can be had as a replacement part.
Note:- the standard rubber pig-tail itself is recommended to be changed every 5 years or so, (there will be a manufacturer's date printed on it) so dependant on your findings you may be best replacing the whole pig-tail.

It is a Truma regulator installed vertically on the bulkhead in the front locker
On the top right hand side of the regulator there is a small round yellow switch which turns in both directions but does not tighten or loosen when turned.
This is where the gas is escaping from.

The yellow switch is a secondary isolation valve. If you click on the link below and watch the short video it briefly explains about the Truma bulkhead mounted regulator.

The yellow switch should be in in line with the outgoing pipe to the van,if you turn it at right angles to the outgoing pipe the gas will come out of a small outlet pipe which I believe is for testing purposes,it has a plastic cap on it which is not a tight seal as it can be removed for testing.
At least that is the setup on mine!

If the gas is escaping at the yellow isolation valve it must have an internal fault. As it is part of the Truma regulator assembly there is no option but to replace the unit.

I contacted a local caravan/motorhome dealer who reckons that a diaphragm could have blown and a full unit replacement is required if this is the case.
I will drop the van to them later in the week to check it out.
