Hi, initially came on here to read reviews of sites before we tried them and found out there's a message board too, great!
Ok, I have read about people with submersible pumps wanting to connect their vans directly to a water supply on fully serviced pitches and needing either a prssure reducing kit or a ball valve kit for their water containers, my van is fitted with a diaphragm pump so question is could I connect this direct to the water supply? Don't see why not but there again I don't know the pressure capacity of the internal valves, anyone else done this?
Sorry can't be too much help, I'm not sure what a diaphram pump is. But if it won't take a direct feed then you could fit a ball valve system to your water container same a one fitted to a toilet cistern. This way it would keep your water container full at all times.
Hi and welcome to the site, our van has a diaphram pump and as yet i do not know of a direct connection to the van (although this can easly be done) i would not recomend a direct connection to the van, if you have a failure in the van ie pump diaphram pipe work ect there is nothing to stop the water flooding the van, but if you have a mains kit to your aquaroll and the pump is switched of when you leave the van and you the have a failure it will not flood the van only the water within the pipework. Hope this helps

It's a shurflo pump, no inlet on the side of the van, it's a 1988 model, way before any of that sort of stuff! water carrier is contained in a side locker, can't see any reason why a diaphragm pump can't cope with a direct feed from a mains supply, will have a go next time I take the van away if no one else has tried it.
Hi Steve the pump should be ok with the pressure but the diaphram return spring could be weak so the pressure could force it back and by pass the pump. Give a try and less us know. TTFN

I assume that if the water carrier is contained within a side locker, you remove and fill this tank manually when empty. Is this a dedicated tank for the van? If this is the case, I can't see how you could implement a direct feed unless you managed to get hold of a spare tank and retro-fit to take a ball-valve type float within (turbeck valve).
This of course would then require the side door be open for the pipe plus give you additional (space taking) tank to lump around.
Only other thought would be to convert to a submersible pump and fit an inlet housing, but this would require use of an external Aquaroll or similar.
Any other detail you can provide on the water inlet/tank set-up might help, or a photo of same?
