Look around for people disposing of sofa beds. Two or three years ago we decided to scrap a sofa bed which was no longer in use and taking up space in a bedroom. When I stripped it down to take to the tip, I noticed that the bed slats were of similar size to those in our caravan, so I have stored these in case they become needed.

The sofa bed slats which I recovered are slightly curved and obviously stronger than the slats currently in our van. Visibly better quality too. Now there's a surprise!

All we did was buy a sheet of the right size of the bed and make good size holes in it for air.
But we did need something to take our heavy weights + disability mucking around to get in and out of bed in the first place. Perfect for us though. Bob used the big round thing you fit on a drill.
Don’t ask me what it’s called I’ve no idea.
