Hi I have a 2003 Bailey Monarch fitted with a Truma gas/electric water heater.
I think the element is on its way out..Its sounds like it is 'fizzing'' and the water is getting very hot even though its only a 450w element.
So when I get the van out of the garage next April/May intend to replace the element.
1) Which element would I need?
2) Is is a DIY type job or do I need a technician to do it ?
If you google truma 450w water heater element then I’m sure you’ll get lots of options that come from various suppliers. As for a diy job I would say it is but it can quite often depend on how easy it is to access the water heater.
Have you looked at the previous posts? some might be of use to you.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
have thumbed through all the previous posts and they do not provide a part number so will probably wait until the good weather returns and take it to the local dealer to get it replaced .
Yours should be the short element with just the 3 core cable coming from it.
If your water heater is easily accessible than it is an easy job to replace two small nuts hold it in.
It doesn’t come with a plug so you need to rejoin the wires probably best to use mains junction box.
Hi Moorlander999
I have a 2000 bailey ranger and my water element has just gone too. I had a ( qualified) guy fixed it for me for £150. Yours should be the series 2 and 3, 450w element as they were fitted in caravans up to 06/2003. https://www.leisureshopdirect.com/gas/caravan-gas-water-heater/truma-heaters/truma-ultrastore-water-heaters-spare-parts you can find it here and this is the cheapest I have found one for. They go for £130+ on e bay. hope this helps
