We’ve a 2 year old Clubman SI and we’ve used Aldi pink in the flush since new. We used it for 6 years with the previous Bailey with the same sort of loo with no problems.
Almost since we got this one we get black particles around the bowl when we flush and recently although you hear the pump there is no flush water.
I’m convinced that this black stuff is causing a blockage and the last few times it’s happened OH has used a syringe to push clean water back up where the flush water comes out into the bowl.
Its been to the dealer for 2 services where I’ve reported this on the first occasion they said they couldn’t reproduce the problem and the second time told me there’s nothing wrong with it that they can find.
I’m coming to the view this tank needs flushing properly and thought I’d first empty it of pink by flushing it through and then put in a mixture of biological washing powered dissolved in very hot water. Pop that into the flush and leave it for an hour or so then flush the whole thing out a couple of times before refilling.
I need to do it either tomorrow or Friday morning before we leave site because with the van on the drive you can’t get to the cartridge to empty it or the filler to fill it.
Any thoughts - will this do any harm or might it work?
Hi David
mix a solution of milton and pour into flush system
leave about 2 hours or longer and then flush with clean water. This should break down the blockage. you will notice a hugh amount black bits come out
look on youtube several videos on how to
As you say you have been using the pink flush fluid for 6 years without any problems. It's strange because some people suffer this and others don't so there's no real answer to solving the problem. Identically, we had the same problem with our previous Thetford C200 toilet but we don't with our current caravan which is just a later model with exactly the same toilet. However, the way to treat the problem is exactly the way navman has suggested (above post) which is what I did and then flush the top tank out and watch the numerous black bits flow out. If it's drinking water systems I advise to use Puriclean but for non drinking water such as the toilet, Milton sterilising liquid mixed at the right percentage will work well and resolve the issue. It's advisable to treat it annually at the beginning of each season especially if the caravan has been standing and had no use over the winter.
I used a cheap fluid once on a previous caravan had the same problem I flushed it out and then went back to Elsan and problem solved. With the current caravan I think the previous owner also used a cheap version and there were black bits whenever it was flushed, again I flushed it out and used Elsan no more problem. Not everything cheap in life is no good but sometimes to pay a little extra is worth it
------------- its our imperfections that makes us perfect
Having read the above post I do have to admit that I did have problems with black bits more often when using Thetford pink fluid for the flush. On advice I then changed to Elsan and the problem was rectified but then tried Blue Diamond when it was on offer from Aldi (twin pack) and the black bits were evident once again. I finally returned to Elsan pink and no problems with any black bits so it looks like it may be the brand of pink flush that could be causing bacteria build up in the flush tank. I would rather stick with Elsan pink now even if it does cost that little bit more.
Well would you believe it that is more or less what happened to me.
Used those stinking Thetford products, had black bits, switched to Elsan Organic, no black bits. Never looked back.
Would not let the Aldi c**p near my van.

A good flush through with Milton in a strong solution was left in for 4 hours yesterday and then flushed through. Loads of black bits found their way into the look cassette!
Refilled with pink and up to now no black bits, fingers crossed.
