I am changing the blanking plate(after 5 years)
Covering my removed Tv aerial
I am about to use Soudal rv61 sealant and adhesive
I have removed most of sikaflex but still have traces left Any tips for final removal to provide a clean surface for Soudal to grab
Also does the new adhesive just need to bridge the circumference of the new plate or go underneath as well

White spirit is what you need to clean the remaining sealant off the roof but you will have to clean the surface afterwards again with some car polish etc. to remove any white spirit to ensure a perfect bond.

I haven't tried using Methylated spirits myself but according to other threads on here other people said it's an equivalent to white spirit so by judging by their comments it's okay.

For silicone sealant we use white spirit to remove residue of silicon then meths to remove white spirit residue so new silicon will take.

I have had to do a few jobs myself over the past years which involved having to remove old sealant but only ever used white spirit but the application of methylated spirits afterwards is a useful tip to know. Thanks!

Yes use methylated spirits to do a final clean and allow to dry naturally.
