Please can anyone help, the electric heki on our van has stopped working. We have ruled out remote control, motor and gear box and it would appear one of the drive cables is jammed. Does anyone know how we can access and free this cable. The heki is jammed closed at the moment.
Many Thanks

The Dometic HEKI 4 rooflight is equipped with an automatic rain sensor which completely closes the rooflight. There is a possibilty that the sensor has malfunctioned thus not allowing the skylight to open so it may require a Dometic technician to investigate before attemping to access parts that may not be jammed.

I have two of these on my van. I would say that the range of the remote is quite short, so try up close. The batteries in the remote are not held very securely, try a small bit of foam to ensure contacts are good.

The rain sensor only works when it rains and is otherwise covered so is unlikely to be the issue.

Have two people present, and spring off all the removable covers round the edge. At this point you may be able to see a fuse, but this may be tucked away, so..

Remove all the screws - there are quite a few, leaving the corners till last, then lower the frame carefully and disconnect the wiring.

Check that fuse and look for any loose connections.

Try applying power to the motor directly, so as to rule out the wiring and pcb.

Unfortunately, as you have perhaps discovered the unit need to be open to access the drive mechanism fixings

I recommend getting some PCB lacquer and treating the main pcb exposed surface to prevent any more corrosion.

Whilst down clean the debris out the blind pleats - there will be quite a lot.

Oh, and lacquer the rain sensor too when you do get it open

Thank u so much for your message we have now tried all of the above and are pretty sure that it is the drive shafts.
However as u state above, you need the heki open to be able to access them and unfortunately ours is jammed shut and will not open manually either.
We live in France and even the dealerships near us, that are registered as Dometic service engineers don’t seem to have any ideas.
Is there any way you know of, that we can do, to open it, in order to be able to change these parts.
Many Thanks

Probably stating the obvious but have you tried contacting Dometic direct via their website.

The motor is accessible with everything dismanted. Its hard to visualise, but I'm pretty sure the motor can be loosened, so you should hopefully be able to dismantle this sufficiently to release the drive cable. If you do this take some photos as you go to remind you on re-assembly.
