We bought our old Elddis Force 5 caravan last year and plug sockets and lights worked fine, running only off the leisure battery. Since then, i have used the hoover and now none of the sockets work. My hubby has checked the fuse box and it hasn't tripped but he is unsure how to access the fuse to test it. Is there anything else it could be? Thank you in advance for your replies.
I assume you have a 12v hoover. Your handbook should show where the fuses are- normally all in one fusebox. 12v fuses will need replacing if blown.
The mains uses circuit breakers which can be reset.
The 3 pin sockets are mains. 12v are usually like a car 12v outlet although some vans had small 2 pin 12v sockets.
If you are using a mains device,it won't work unless you are connected to a mains hookup.

You said your plug sockets worked fine running off only the leisure battery but as 664DaveS has said your plug sockets will only work when connected via the electric hookup.
There should be a consumer unit similar to the one in your house with trip switches which would usually be the cause of no 240v supply.
I agree, Saxo, but there are a couple of inconsistencies in the original post that are confusing. The lady has referred to the 'fuse box ' and then to it 'tripping '
The fuse box normally would refer to 12 volt and tripping to the 230 volt system
I think we need some more information before anyone can offer help.

Thank you all for your replies. In hindsight, following your replies, we may have had it hooked up to a generator when testing the appliances. So, am i right in saying the plug sockets only run off hook up and not leisure battery. In that case I'm really sorry for any confusion. Sorry, we are learning, it's our first caravan. X
Hi, yes the 240v household type sockets only work off electric hook up. Also be careful what type of generator you use. If you use smart TV,s or laptop they can be damaged by cheaper type generator
OK, so just to clarify:
The 3 pin sockets like the ones in your home will only work when your caravan is connected to the mains via a cable. They will work when connected to a generator but as 'Albee' says, be careful what you use it for.
When you are connected to the mains you will also have a couple of lights in the lounge area that will work.
All other lights will work from the 12 volt battery, assuming that it is fully charged.
You don't say what year your caravan is but it may have one or two 12 volt sockets like you have in the car which could be used (eg) to charge your phone.
