Hi I have just bought a freedom Jetstream. I have just bought a new leisure battery but I don't know if the lights are supposed to work off battery alone or just with ehu? If so how? My motormover works fine just no lights
Not sure about the Freedom specifically but most caravan lights work off the battery. That's usually one of the main purposes of a battery as well as water pump etc.
This is only the interior lights and maybe a light over the door for in the awning. The road lights won't work from it.
Usually there are some 13Amp sockets like in your house which are operated from the mains hook up lead only as is the fridge on 230 volt.
There may be a master switch somewhere which isolates the 12 volt supply from the battery.
When you say the central heating works, do you mean a blower? The motor mover works on a separate circuit to the rest of the internal electrics, but if that works the battery must be ok.
I suspect you have a fuse or fuses blown, unless you have an isolation switch somewhere and it's turned off. I don't know your particular caravan but I would imagine that any isolation switch would be near the battery.
Silly question:
Many caravans have an master "OFF" switch for the lights just by the door - so that you can switch all the lights off as you leave, & back on again when you return from the Pub... err from your evening stroll.
I have stated before on this forum that if any of the 12 volt circuits don't work, the first place to check is to see if any of the fuses have blown which applies not only to caravans but also to cars and just about anything else with fuses in the electrical circuit.
