I have discovered a leak on the rear of my Ranger Gt60. The rear panel has a little crack where it joins the top strip. I've just gorilla glued it for now. My question is does the Sikaflex work when applying over existing sealant. Or do I have to clear it all off first. Any experience with this stuff please

old stuff needs to be cleaned out first. cleaned with turps and white spirit, just resealed a older caravan a Sikaflex 512 is amazing stuff.

what did you reseal? This is a tiny crack in the top of the end panel. Just ordered some Captain Tolley’s Creeping Crack Cure to start with.

After using white spirit wipe down with meths because white spirit leaves a residue that will prevent you getting a good seal what ever you use.

Hi yam 600. The dreaded plastic panels again. I have just posted on a similar post how vital it is to ensure such cracks no matter how small are remedied ASAP. Water dwells on such areas and any water ingress will soon be bad news. Plastic panels have little tensile strength and are prone to splitting I have successfully repaired plastic caravan panels using fibre glass & resin to patch the area. This not only repairs but also reinforces the area against further stresses to prevent further cracks. The crack cure mentioned is unlikely to solve any split in the plastic panel it is more often used as a quick temporary fix of panel seams and trims where as the name suggest it creeps in to cracks. You need to be absolutely sure of a more permanent long lasting fix. Caravans have always had design faults and water ingress. Modern caravans are comfy and luxurious with all mods cons but sadly plastic panels joined on the flat roof are a big mistake. Hope all goes well with the repair.

Good shout thanks. The Gorilla glue has done the trick for now. That stuff expands bonds and is waterproof.

I'd suggest you keep an eye on this, but if the fault is an actual crack, its worth actually drilling a very fine hole at both ends of the crack too; this actually restricts the crack from extending any further.
I hope the fix you've done holds up.

Managed to fix this. The gorilla glue expanded all around and inside. Shaped it then sealed with sikaflex. Then used Captain Trolly seal to make sure. Now dry inside job done.
